Head of Cultural Forum for Dialogue visits Vatican Embassy

As part of the efforts to strengthen cultural and humanitarian relations between Iraq and the Holy See, Sheikh Mohsen Okla Al-Aboudi, President of the Crossroads Center for Dialogue and Democracy, paid an official visit to the Vatican Embassy in Baghdad, where he was received by H.E. Monsignor Mitja Lescovar.
The meeting witnessed an extensive discussion on the prospects for cultural and religious cooperation between the two sides and ways to support initiatives that promote dialogue and understanding between religions and cultures, thus contributing to the consolidation of the values of peace, tolerance and coexistence in the region.
The two sides expressed their desire to expand cooperation between Iraqi and ecclesiastical institutions, stressing the importance of building partnerships based on mutual respect and promoting common human values.
At the end of the meeting, Sheikh Al-Aboudi expressed his thanks and appreciation to Ambassador Lescovar for the warm reception and depth of the discussion that took place during the visit, stressing the center's commitment to continue working to build bridges of cultural and humanitarian communication between Iraq and the Holy See.
This visit is a qualitative step in the Center's march to strengthen Iraq's presence in the international cultural and religious scene, and confirms the vital role of cultural diplomacy in achieving rapprochement between peoples and religions.
